Gigi Butler, founder of Gigi’s Cupcakes, stated “We were very excited to open a shop in the Kingwood area because there is a demand for a cupcake shop. The support and excitement we have heard from everyone is great."

In February 2008, the first Gigi’s Cupcakes opened in Nashville and has grown since its inception to the current 58 different franchises across the nation.

Butler stated, “In 2007, I was baking the cupcakes out of my home while I was building the first bakery. I took out a $100,000 cash advance to build the first Gigi’s Cupcakes. I only had around $33 to my name when I opened my doors. Once I opened Gigi’s Cupcakes, the lines started to form and we were selling out of numerous cupcake flavors every day. There were several television reports about the bakery and by word of mouth, we became very popular.”

In three years, Butler will have opened 58 Gigi’s Cupcakes by the end of this year and plans to continue expanding.

Butler added, “It is amazing to see my name of the front door; it means a lot to me and I take pride in my product. I like to visit each store to ensure we are providing a quality cupcake to each of our customers."
